Gypsy jazz blended with world music and original compositions

Les Violons de Bruxelles is a rare vintage: five strings like five grape varieties, blended with finesse and passion. Led by Tcha Limberger, this acoustic quintet explores gypsy jazz blended with world music and original compositions. Lively, elegant and generous music to be enjoyed without moderation!

Music is first and foremost silence. Then a foot taps the floor and sets the tempo. Next come the vibrations. Those of Les Violons de Bruxelles: a unique sound signature! Nothing in the history of music has ever offered such a blend, as personal as the work of a winemaker.

Five string varieties: four four-stringed instruments and one six-stringed instrument.
Plucked, bowed, struck, brushed… everything is explored! And one of these varieties, Tcha Limberger, has two extra strings – in his throat – for added roundness and richness.

Once you’ve been swept away by this rhythmic alchemy, all that’s left to do is savour the melodies. The inspiration is, of course, Django Reinhardt and gypsy jazz. But our winemaker has travelled and drawn inspiration from other fertile lands: Brazil (Choros), the United States (Armstrong, Clifford Brown, etc.), Venezuela (Joropo), Belgium (original compositions), and more.

Les Violons de Bruxelles offer a repertoire from all corners of the world, with a single motto: “It’s beautiful!

And what’s more, it grooves!

Their first concert? 24 September 2010. A “one-shot”, they said! Since then, Tcha Limberger, Renaud Dardenne, Renaud Crols, Alex Tripodi and Sam Gerstmans have been touring the stages, winning over audiences and thrilling them with music that is as acoustic as it is authentic. A passion for things that are well done, sincere and generous.

And they can see it: the venues are often full; the audience comes back as soon as they can. Through rehearsals, friendship and creativity, Les Violons de Bruxelles continue to surprise.
In their luggage: three albums and an undiminished desire to share their art.

But first… let’s listen to the silence.
