Dance, music, and theater show for young audiences – Ages 1 to 5 – duration: 35 min..

We offer an accessible, natural, and human physical and auditory experience.

We show little ones that they can use every possible and imaginable means to express themselves: their voice, their body, an instrument, they can move around the space, they can stay where they are, they can interact with others or dream in their own little world.
Everything is fine and everything is welcome. We want to give them the confidence to express themselves freely, to imitate us if they wish, or simply to observe us and receive our suggestions. The children’s reactions are immediately incorporated into our play.

It goes without saying that we react constantly, ensuring that our show stays on track without straying from it for a single second.
We are able to maintain this framework thanks to our years of experience with young audiences, but also thanks to our creative and development residencies in schools and nurseries, where we have been able to experiment with the invisible thread that connects us to our audience.

A playful journey that takes us and the audience on an endless series of explorations and discoveries, individually, with others, and around the world.

Featuring :

Jonathan De Neck [ compositions, diatonic accordion ]
Maaike van de Westeringh [ dance, choreography]

The creation of Zucht

We met in Viverone (Italy) during an international artist residency in 2019.
In 2020 and 2021, we had the opportunity to further our research in nurseries and preschools in Brussels.

The aim is to improvise together in the classroom, finding ways to include the children both emotionally and physically without letting them take over: children are first and foremost observers, capable of understanding what we are doing and being inspired by it.
They can then express themselves using the images, movements, sensations, and songs provided.

In 2022-2023, we participated in the Turvenhoog Festival (NL) during a residency in nurseries and in 2023 in the youth festival “De beaux lendemains” in Saint-Brieuc and the Paris region (FR).

Maaike van de Westeringh is a Dutch dancer and choreographer.
She studied at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg.
She has contributed to more than 30 productions as a choreographer, dancer, author, and director.
She has been co-artistic director of the Kulde dance company since 2013.

Jonathan De Neck
has been a Belgian accordionist and composer for over 20 years. He collaborates with numerous artists from diverse backgrounds (children’s songs, folk music, spoken word, jazz, dance, etc.).
He composes for theater and dance and is also a teacher of diatonic accordion and ensemble playing.
